Reifenkissen Tire Flat Stoppers / Tyre Cushions for Long-term Car & Vehicle Storage

I. The ultimate solution against flat spots
Reifenkissen (German for “cushion for tyres”) are an innovative and highest quality Swiss Made product which effectively prevents flat spots on your “pride and joy’s” tyres and that is proverbially easy and handy to use on all types and dimensions of automobile tyres.

Why Reifenkissen are your best choice of product?
There are several reasons:

Flexibility and a “perfect fit”
Reifenkissen can be used in combination with almost any type and dimension of tyre, from small diameter and narrow width to very large and wide wheels (up to 50cm in width whereas competitors products are limited to a tyre width of 28.5cm). One size fits all, guaranteed:

The cushion’s flexible special grade heavy duty foam perfectly adapts to the widest range of tyres. This is not the case with other design tyre flat stoppers which are a solid shape design and therefore may not adapt to the tyre shape flexibly.

A perfectly smooth ride and “as new” tyre condition
Reifenkissen increase the lifespan of your tyres and improve the ride quality considerably even on the first meters when the Automobile is removed from storage.

Easy to use
You only have to position your Reifenkissen once and then may simply drive on and off them (the rear cushion is designed so that you can drive completely over it), which is not the case with other flat stoppers available on the market that have to be precisely positioned every time the car is parked, an annoying task which you rather don’t want to waste your time with. The underside of each Reifenkissen is covered with a super-grip surface which effectively prevents the cushion from slipping away when driven on to and off from.

Bye-bye annoying storage procedures!
Reifenkissen make the typical procedures for storing a vehicle obsolete (increasing the tyre pressure and moving the car forth and backwards on a regular basis are no longer required preventions). Furthermore, you can run your pride and joy whenever you want – with no preparations or follow-ups required.

For an immaculately clean garage floor
Reifenkissen perfectly prevent any staining or marking from tyres on your garage floor.

Award your joy and pride with Reifenkissen and save yourself time and worries whilst ensuring yourself turn-key pleasure with your automobile investment(s).

II. Innovation and product development
The original idea for the Reifenkissen was born when a Swiss collector of “heavy” British classic cars and a Zürich based automobile interior restoration specialist came to the point that flat spots unfortunately are a very common problem on classic cars (especially on the heavier ones) and that there is no good enough remedy against them available on the market, on one hand due to the fact that the existing solid shape design flat spot stoppers almost never are a perfect fit to the individual tyre and on the other hand that they are not handy enough to use as they always have to be precisely positioned when the car is driven on and off.

Therefore, the two agreed already after a short discussion that there is the need for a new product and that the current market of products offers significant room for improvement.

The time which then had to be invested into product development and the competence that had to be brought into the project was significantly longer and more extensive, from the creation of the first prototype to the final product, more than a year went by during which most of the time was spent researching the best choice of materials with the foam being the biggest challenge as no such heavy duty foam was available on the market, so it had to be specially developed for the use on the Reifenkissen. The development team collaborated with tyre manufacturers and dealers, oldtimer specialists and various collectors to create the best product for this purpose.

The final product solution turned out to be an innovative sandwich-construction which consists of:

1. A thick layer of special grade foam which is glued to ...
2. A reinforcement plate made from special maintenance free and stainless aluminium that prevents the cushion from bending too much under load, and ...
3. Another thinner layer of foam glued to the underside of the reinforcement plate which provides excellent anti-slip characteristics.

III. Swiss Quality – Materials and Manufacturing
Both the materials which Reifenkissen are made with and the manufacturing processes themselves deserve the rating Swiss Made. The different components for Reifenkissen like the special grade heavy duty foam or the aluminium reinforcement backing plates are specially produced for Reifenkissen by Swiss suppliers. The product itself then is also assembled in Switzerland.

IV. How Reifenkissen work and how to use them?
Reifenkissen distribute the weight of the vehicle equally to a much larger surface area compared to when the vehicles tyres are in touch with the ground directly. Therefore, Reifenkissen prevent flat spots – which are caused by strong punctual loads on the tyre structure and if a car is stored for a longer time. The special sandwich construction allows the Reifenkissen to adapt to almost any design and shape of tyre with no adjustment required.

V. How to use?
1. Drive your automobile to its storage position but stop 1m in front of its final location, with the steering wheel being positioned straight (so no more corrections on the steering wheel should be required).

2. Put the Reifenkissen in front of the tyres and align them by having a quick look along the cars sideline (from the back), position them so that their centre line is about in the middle of the tyre. You do not need to position the cushions very precisely; there is a lot of tolerance allowed.

3. Drive the car on to the Reifenkissen.

4. When using the automobile again, you may simply drive it off the cushions and then, when storing it again, you may simply drive it on the cushions again – no re-positioning required
